Creative Canvas Class: Wednesday, February 22nd

Plan to leave the Center at 12:15. Cost of the class is $20.00, payable in cash at the studio.  All materials are provided. The class will paint the "Blue Door". Please sign up on Teri's bulletin board. Go to www.creativecanvas.com to see a sample.

 
Mardi Gras--Senior Center Style

Join us on Fat Tuesday, February 21st for a Mardi Gras celebration. To kick it off, we will have our monthly Birthday and Anniversary Celebration at 12:30; followed by a special Mardi Gras skit, written by our very own Gerry Mellon and performed by The Old Duffers & Powder Puffers. A special "King Cake" will be prepared by our kitchen staff.
 A "Bejeweled" Tournament will be held in the computer room from 1:15-2:15. Prizes will be awarded to the top two high scorers. We will use Bejeweled 2 Deluxe, The Endless Version. Please sign up for the tournament. See Susan for more information or to learn to play.


Upcoming Trip to Wrather Museum

Have you ever been to Murray State's Wrather Museum? Come with us to view the exhibit "Journey Stories". According to MSU's website, this exhibit uses engaging images, audio and artifacts to tell stories that illustrate the critical roles travel and movement have played in building our diverse American society. From Native Americans to new American Citizens, regardless of our ethnic or racial backgrounds, everyone has a story to tell.
The van will leave the Center at 12:30pm and return to the Center between 1:30 & 2:00. There is no charge for this trip. Please sign up on Teri's bulletin board.

Typing Classes Offered

Wish you'd taken typing in school OR just need to brush up on your typing? We are now offering 8-week typing classes which will be given on the  computer keyboards in the Computer Lab. There will be two different times offered. Classes will be 9:00-10:00am either on Mondays beginning February 6th or Tuesdays beginning February 7th. Class size is limited so please sign up on Teri's bulletin board.


Living Well Program: Managing Your Chronic Disease

Classes are free of charge and will meet on Thursdays from 12:30-3:00. beginning February 9th through March 15th in the Old Exercise Room. Refreshments will be served. Please sign up at Teri's bulletin board.
Subjects covered include:  
~Techniques for frustration, fatigue, pain & isolation
~Appropriate exercise to maintain & improve strength
~Appropriate use of medications & proper nutrition
~Communicating effectively with family, friends & health professionals
   
                   

Kentucky Legal Aid

KY Legal Aid will be at the Center on February 23rd at 9:30. You must sign up on the bulletin board. It is first come, first served and you must sign in when you arrive.

How to be Healthy to 108!

Local Chiropractor, Dr. Michael Travis, will present "How to be Healthy to 108!" on February 28th at 12:30 in the Dining Room.

The Mind Matters Class

Join us for coffee and conversation Friday, February 17th at 12:30 in the Old Exercise Room as The Mind Matters Class talks about head to toe fitness. Refreshments will be served. Every participant will receive a goody bag. This event is sponsored by Home Health Plus.

AARP Tax Assistance
